Our Screening Process:

  • Application is received

  • Resume and work history review

  • Initial phone call

  • Interview qualified candidates

    • Must be 20 years of age or older

    • Must have 2+ years of recent professional experience

    • We call 3-5 professional childcare references

    • Valid Infant and Child CPR & First-Aid Certification

    • Valid driver’s license

    • Valid automobile insurance - transportation is only provided when specifically arranged/approved

    • Legal resident of the United States

  • Candidate is background checked through TrustLine - The state-authorized system that screens the California Department of Justice, FBI, and Child Abuse Central Index databases

Our Recommended Sitter to Child Ratio:

Ratios vary by age and group size, but our goal is to staff above the typical caregiver-to-child ratio, ensuring extra supervision and peace of mind for families.

  • Infants (0-12 months) - 1:1

  • Toddlers (1-3 years) - 1:2

  • Preschool (3-5 years) - 1:3

  • Children 5+ years - 1:5

Safety & Health:

  • Cleared Background Check

  • Infant & Child CPR & First-Aid Certified

  • Safe, Attentive Supervision

  • Follows Family Instructions & Care Expectations

  • Non-Smoking

  • Maintains Family Confidentiality

  • Active Illness & Wellness Policy (for both sitter and child)

    • If your sitter becomes ill, we will schedule another sitter (subject on availability)

How We Match Families & Sitters:

  • Children’s Ages - Sitter must have experience with the age group: especially infants, toddlers, or multiple age groups

  • Number of Children - We will make sure the booking fits our recommended ratios

  • Special Needs or Individual Care Requirements - We have para-professionals and experienced sitters on staff

  • Activities & Responsibilities - Active playtime, meals, bedtime, etc. Swimming is NOT permitted.

  • Assignment Location & Transportation - Ensuring the sitter can reasonably get to their assignment

  • Family Preferences - When possible, family can request a specific sitter or specific experience (contingent on availability)

  • Event Requirements - For weddings/events, considering venue, number/ages of children, length of event, and whether multiple nannies are needed

What Parents Can Expect:

  • Before your booking:

    • You will receive your sitter’s profile

    • Your sitter will contact you the week of their assignment via text message

  • During your booking:

    • Your sitter will arrive on time

    • Your sitter will follow your instructions

    • Your sitter will provide attentive, age-appropriate care

    • Your sitter will maintain the agreed child-to-sitter ratio

  • After your booking:

    • Families can provide feedback to CCN

    • CCN maintains ongoing standards for its childcare professionals
